First and foremost I would like to thank the employees responsible for maintaining the Snake Creek Trail.
One of the best exercises we can do as retirees is walking and I try to do as much as possible. It’s all good until we reach Miami Gardens Dr (183 St) the routine is to walk along side the bridge and return on the other side of the canal; that is the part that makes me cringe. The bridge does not have a protective barrier between traffic and pedestrian/bike rider. If a driver were to get distracted there is absolutely nothing in the way between him and me. Maybe it wouldn’t matter but then maybe it would .
If this is a legitimate concern and it’s not your pervue then who?

This is a nice ride with views of ocean and Miami skyline. Plenty of parking at the beaches and parks. Much of the trail is along the shoulder, but in the rural areas it is double lined for vehicle traffic and the bike lane is painted green, pretty cool.
I enjoyed riding on the trail despite having to cross busy roads. There are pedestrian cross walks, though, and for the most part the motorists yielded to the bikers and walkers as they should.
I did find the trail rather boring as far as the scenery. And what can we say about those unkempt backyards full of debris/trash? But as far as the actual concrete trail goes, I found it to be very accommodating to both cyclists and pedestrians.
I would ride the trail again!
Beautiful urban trail but currently lots of construction along the path at the I-95 junction and west of Military almost all the way to 441.
We wanted to take this trail at its northest point near Indian Beach Park, just north of 41st street and go southward. Not possible. Bikes are not allowed on the boardwalk. Large signs posted by the city of Miami Beach. We had to turn around.
We took the trail at Markham Park (Sawgrass) yesterday to Hiatus and was hoping t pick up Plantation to Cypress Greenway. However, we need to turn around as the sun was beginning to set and didn’t want to ride in the dark. We live right near Fern Forest (Cypress Greenway). We are hoping to take Cypress Greenway to Plantation/Hiatus Greenway and then to New River Greenway. Hoping that works for a great ride that we plan to do often. I’ll revise and let you know.
Good for exercise or commute / use the train. Not for “family fun”
All the sections of the trail are completed, the new section under Yamato Road is really nicely done and it makes the whole experience so much safer. I used to ride only the South half of the trail because of the busy Yamato Road crossing but now I see lots of people taking advantage of the full trail, including families with young riders. I like to ride El Rio when I don't want to deal with auto traffic and now I can enjoy a longer ride.
For a city trail, this one is pretty good. I rode it on 7/22/18 .At first the scenery is just so-so but after the crossing at Oakland Park Blvd. it improves a lot. Very clean, with trees along the way if you need a break from the sun. Lots of large iguanas along the canal on the left going south, and there's no shortage of ducks. Some upscale homes to see on the right. The pavement is very smooth, very tight seams... you don't feel them at all. This is Florida, flat as a pancake... you won't get beautiful mountain scenery or anything like that, so my rating takes into consideration that this is a trail running through populated areas. The trail was not very heavily trafficked though. Very nice, all things considered.
