Industrial Track Greenway Trail

Creepy Trail Ride

August, 2018 by xcrunner1401

Found nothing scenic or enjoyable on this trail. Rode thru questionable areas, not enough light in the tunnels to see the ground, crossed two busy roads, rode the trail right next to the women's prison.

Trail Blocked by downed trees at Suburban Kiosk N of New Castle

July, 2018 by beachlynn

Road the trail from the Boulden trail head towards Wilmington and was stopped at the new bridge. Workers there still doing replanking and it is closed. Went south towards Olde New Castle and found the trail blocked at the Suburban Kiosk about .75 miles from New Castle. Did see a deer on the trail. Can't wait until I can do the trail end to end.

Industrial Track Greenway Trail

definite progress

July, 2018 by kjnerz

Was on the trail today with my wife for first time since tunnels have been opened. Great connection to go uninterrupted from Christiana River to old colonial New Castle. The lighting in the tunnels was not on and even in the daytime they are dark, so use caution, however it is a big improvement now that the two segments of the trail are connected.
We wanted to ride to the Christiana, but were not able to do so because of crews paving the last half mile of trail. We are grateful for their efforts and to see the trail progress "live." According to an engineer on the site, the bridge and connection to other side and downtown Wilmington should be completed in 6 weeks! Very exciting! Once completed you will be able to start at the northern end of the Greenway north of Wilmington, cut through downtown, hop on the trail on the Christiana riverfront, cross over the river and finish in New Castle. Can't wait!

Junction & Breakwater Trail

Awesome Trail

July, 2018 by sheranee

Couldn’t wait to get back to the beach to ride this trail again. It’s the easiest trail to ride and the views and scenery are awesome. I like to park at revelations microbrewery, trail goes right by it and they aloud parking there and have a cold one.

Industrial Track Greenway Trail

OK

July, 2018 by sfarring_tl

Ran the trail from the parking area off of Boulden Blvd to the Christina river bridge. The trail is fully open and paved all the way to the river. However, the lights in the tunnels under the highway weren't working which was a little disconcerting. The Christina river bridge appears to be "kind of open" with an open gate but construction equipment still around some work still to be completed. Beyond the Christina river I was told that the trail continues for another half mile or so before being fully blocked by construction. Apparently at some future date it'll connect all the way to the Wilmington train station.

Overall, it wasn't the most scenic environment passing among other things - a prison, the Delaware state potters field, a psychiatric hospital, a couple of highways and lots of high tension lines. It was a reasonable option as I was staying at the Fairfield Inn nearby. Next time I stay in the area I'll try running the trail south of the parking area to the Delaware river.

Northern Delaware Greenway Trail

Fun trail

June, 2018 by brianpmcgovern82

I thought this was a pretty nice trail. The only problem is it not posted too well and I got off track more than once but I was able to backtrack and get back on the trail. It goes through some very scenic woodlands which makes you feel like you went back in time. Very well maintained.

Nice Trail!

The trail from the City of New Castle to the Christiana River is done and open. The bridge over the Christiana River is complete but, not open yet.

Gordons Pond Trail

Gordon’s Mudflat

May, 2018 by vivian.bedoya

Visited in May 2018 & tried to walk from the Ocean Drive trailhead towards Herring Point. This is a nicely planned, well-maintained trail and a lot of cyclists were enjoying it. Unfortunately, the main attraction, Gordon’s Pond, was dry and foul-smelling; more of a caked mudflat than a body of water. After one mile, we turned back because the flies and hot sun made the experience more unpleasant than the smell. We’ll try again next time we’re in Lewes.

Junction & Breakwater Trail

J&B and Gordon's Pond

May, 2018 by dillar

Great Loop.... Started at Gordon's Pond Parking lot just north of Rehobeth. Rode north on Gordon's Pond Loop, connected via the Cape Henlopen trail past the bath house and onto Rt. 9 to Lewes. Connected with the Junction and Breakwater back to Rehobeth.
Good Surfaces all the way.... was initially concerned with traffic on Rt. 9, but we rode thru a neighborhood parallel to the road and came back onto Rt. 9 just before the Ferry terminal. Don't take Rt. 9 into Lewes, go an extra block and take Savannah Road into Lewes. There's a Dairy Queen on the corner and you can see the Lewes beach right there. Signs for connection to Breakwater Trail are visible right after the little drawbridge.
The end of the trail is a little confusing...the sign is outdated, but if you go left on rt. 273 and turn right on Canal Crossing Road (~200yds) to Church street you'll arrive at Rehobeth Ave. to turn left into town..

Little Jersey Trail

Easy flat trail

March, 2018 by cherylhoffman_tl

A nice trail that takes you though woods, open fields, and a stretch of marshy area with very vocal frogs! A few views of Lums Pond- probably better views on inside trail. Definitely wet & muddy in areas if you go after rain/snowmelt. Warning- I went a week after a nor’easter blew through and there were A LOT of downed trees covering the path. Not a huge deal for a runner to find a path around but the cyclist I met up with wasn’t pleased with the time he had to carry his bike. But, once again, this was after severe weather. Overall, a pretty, easy, & well marked trail!

Michael Castle Trail

A wonderful trail for both beginners and seasoned riders

November, 2017 by robert.richter89

I rode the entire Micheal Castle trail starting in Delaware City as well as the 1.8 Mile Section of the Ben Cardin Trail to Chesapeake City. The entire trail is paved with only a few bumps that are marked. There are a few hills with two switchbacks and sections of the trail are curvy. To me that all added up to a fun ride. There are three trail heads each with parking and bathrooms. Both Delaware City and Chesapeake City offered places to eat. There is also a bar roughly halfway on the trail at a marina. All of this adds up to a perfect trail in my opinion!
