Palatka-Lake Butler State Trail

Twin Lakes Park

June, 2018 by kevinkaren

Parked at Twin Lakes Park on a weekday before school was out, so nobody around. Felt like a safe area, picnic shelter and restroom but no shade to park under. Flat trail (of course), wide, smooth pavement. Came across one short stretch of trail that was underwater, but only a few inches deep and I coasted slowly across without getting my feet wet.
Rode east to the very abrupt end, and saw that it appears construction is actively taking place or will take place this summer. Florahome has nice new facilities and feels very welcoming. West from Twin Lakes Park became suburban and quickly more urban. I turned around at the first stoplight and rode back to the car generally satisfied with the ride.

Nicely paved path, parallel to a canal with decent view.

Capital Cascades Trail

bikechopper

June, 2018 by bikechopper

Rode this trail today. We parked off Suwannee St in Cascade Park., it was Friday but we found plenty of parking even though we were by the Water Park which was busy. First rode trail on side of Franklin St. and was thinking this is just a wide sidewalk. Quickly we were enjoying the ride though the neighborhood the gardens and landscape was beautiful and well groomed. We rode to Tennessee across from Leon High then turned back, there was a few road crossings but there were crosswalk lights. We passed back through the park and kept going to a nice trail bridge over Monroe and then followed FAMU Way on the trail. It did not end at Pinellas Circle so we kept going. Great views of the Capital, we passed some Canadian Geese who moved slowly from the trail. We kept going until we knew we were going south and went under Orange Ave. Then we realized we were on the Tall- St. Marks Trail. So the two trail do connect. We returned to our Van at the park and explored more and found the old Utilities Building is a beautiful restaurant Called The Edison. A great ride and a showcase trail for what a local city can do with its spaces and resources.

Lehigh Greenway Rail Trail

Nice Ride

June, 2018 by rpbboz

My husband and I thought we were taking 6.6 mile bike ride as that is what the description said. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was much longer that that. If I had known, I would have planned to ride longer but with circumstances being what they were, we had to cut it short at 22 miles.

The path is scenic for the most part with very little stopping and starting which is what I like. I was hoping for more of a nature ride but got enough that I was satisfied. It is flat which makes it an easy ride and you can do as much or as little of it as you want. Finding the parking was a little challenging and of course there were no restrooms where parked.

Timpoochee Trail

Good trail, as long as your expectations are realistic

If you're training for the Tour d'Anything, this isn't the trail for you. If you want to park your car in one of the towns and use the bikes to Gary around, they're great.

We ride "hybrid" bikes (something in between road bikes and mountain bikes). We found them pretty ideal for this trail.

We parked at Seaside and rode east to Camp Helen State Park. The park itself isn't a bad ride.

Another day, we went west to Grayton Beach. We ran into trail construction there, but we rode south to the beach, and around town. We later found that we probably could have re-entered the trail on the west side of town, and continued westward. The construction looked almost complete, so it is likely to be a non-issue soon after this review is posted.

The trail is ideal for exploring the towns, and goes close to lots of shops and restaurants.

There were a few other trails heading north toward hwy 98 that were in the final stages of construction. These were interesting, and we may explore them next year.

Gainesville-Hawthorne State Park Trail

Be careful

May, 2018 by chasen214

Others have warned on here of car break-ins, but recently a woman was held at gunpoint at the sweet water outlook and was demanded to give up her bike, phone, and wallet. This is a beautiful trail, but now I don’t feel as safe riding on it.

Boulware trailhead parking

May, 2018 by lmcelwee

Be aware that there have been a lot of car breakins at this parking lot at Boulware Park. Our car was broken into on Wednesday May 23, 2018. Gainesville PD report numerous monthly break ins at this lot...BEWARE AND LOCK UP, LEAVE NO VALUABLES.

2018 Construction Coming along

May, 2018 by otherland

Lots of good things happening on the trail in 2018. The construction east of Roberts Lane is coming along nicely and should be finished in the fall of 2018. At this time the bridge over Rice Creek is close to being finished.

Also in the news..

The ribbon cutting for the NEW pavilion at the Florahome trail head took place on May 23, 2018. A really nice pavilion with 4 tables (handicap accessible). A nice spot to get out of the sun.... Or rain in Florida.

Also a ribbon cutting for the NEW playground at the Florahome trail head took place on May 20, 2018. A really nice shaded area for the kids to play.

Coming soon to the trail head an information kiosk filled with history of the park and grounds that used to be the Florahome train depot. The park that the pavilion and playground are a part of is called Palmetto Park.

Martin County US Route 1 Sidepath

Sidepath review

May, 2018 by mtballas45

As per previous review, basically a large sidewalk along US 1. But to the west there is some wild vegetation especially on the north end along the park. Staying at a hotel (Jupiter Waterfront Inn) on the south end of trail so was nice to be able to pick up the trail within feet of the hotel and not have to run on US 1!

John Yarbrough Linear Park Trail

Great ride

May, 2018 by jmc33vavols

You can get to this trail from downtown Ft. Myers city via Veronica Shoemaker Blvd. and Metro Parkway. Just about every type of wetland and aquatic bird in FL can be see along the way; Herons, Ibises, Aningas, Red-Tail Hawks, Ospreys, Spoonbills, Swallow-tail Kites, Turkey and Black Vultures, and an occasional Bald Eagle pair. Lots of snakes, beware of Moccasains (!). I even saw a young Lynx there! Pretty decent fishing when the water level is up, too! Gar, Tilapia, even some Trout below the dam. Oh, yeah, Alligators, a few big ones.

General James A. Van Fleet State Trail

best trail for nature lovers.

this trail offers a view of nature and wildlife at its best as you ride along the trail. you will need to be on the lookout for snakes and turtle crossing the trail. The trail is clean and well maintained.
