Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail

Great biking trail.

March, 2018 by opstadp

This trail is a great trail for biking but also a busy trail. We rode it on a Friday morning in March and I was surprised to see how many people out! There were moms with strollers, people walking and "serious" bikers (the ones that probably do bike races). But really enjoyed the trail as there is a lot to see (not boring). We started at the zoo and rode the trail north up to Travelers Rest and had lunch up there at the Whistle Stop (GREAT chickens salad) and back. We even stopped on the way coming back and rode around the lake at Furman. We stopped in at the Swamp Rabbit Grocery and had some of their homemade bread! Absolutely fabulous and bought a loaf to take with us! Their cookies are delicious too! A lot of people eating their sandwiches while we were there. I think we would do that next time!
Overall our trip was about 30 miles. When we started at the zoo we found a few spots that we weren't sure which way to go but we just asked people near us which way to Travelers Rest and they pointed us in the right direction. I think they need better signage on the beginning of the trail from the point starting at the zoo. The asphalt does need a little repair in a few places but overall a very enjoyable ride! GREAT day!

Doodle Rail Trail

Quiet, smooth ride but hilly

March, 2018 by opstadp

Just rode the Doodle Rail Trail and found it a quiet and smooth ride (nicely paved wide asphalt trail). However, it is hilly whether you go from Easley to Pickens or Pickens to Easley so bikes with gears would be needed. Most of the hills are long and gradual but you need the gears to comfortably ride them. Wooded in places and you pass cows, goats and old train cars.

Doodle Rail Trail

Beautiful and peacful trail.

The Doodle trail is very well paved and crosses forested areas with streams and bridges. It is very pleasant to walk, run or bike on it between Easley and Pickens. Bring the whole family for a beautiful walk.

Twelve Mile Creek Trail

Great Hike/MTB trail

February, 2018 by modiorne

Wife and I hiked this trail from the NC side, parked at Harvey Clay Nesbit park, and used Carolina Thread Trail "clues" to link to this trail. We did hike the full trail to Walnut Creek side - as others have mentioned there are some rough/rugged spots so a true MTB is recommended, but hiking in sturdy shoes gets the job done too.
Beautiful trail overall.

Great Trail to Ride Trikkes

We stopped to check out this trail while traveling, and we loved it. It is wide, clean, and well appointed with benches, tool stations, and scenic stops. We will definitely come back!

Bike Riding

I love the Swamp Rabbit Trail and give it a 5 star but it does need to be repaved because it makes for a very bumpy ride.

Three Rivers Greenway

no thru access

trail in need of repair as there are a few places that are barricaded off and so impossible to ride the trail. Please post this on site for future trail riders who will not be frustrated and disappointed with their attempt to ride the full 8plus miles. Thanks

Great These Days

October, 2017 by ggff_tl

This trail used to be in rough shape but it has been newly paved as of this year and work is still being done in terms of landscaping etc. I am on the trail on a daily basis and have never had any safety issues. Its a great gem in west ashley

Doodle Rail Trail

Great afternoon Ride

September, 2017 by brentadcox

This trail is up and down almost the whole way. There a short breaks both ways but you will need some gears to deal with the long hills. Such a pretty ride and it was not crowded at all. This is a beautiful bike ride. Can't wait till the leaves turn.

Doodle Rail Trail

Nice wide pavement, but several minor hills

September, 2017 by lexingtonflyer

This is a lovely, wide rail trail. It's new enough that there aren't any rough spots in the pavement. There are few road crossings of much significance. There are more hills than typical, but fewer than you'd find on nearby roads. Frequent distance markings add to safety and help pace the rider. A mid-point rest stop was added by local Rotarians. The ride is a more rural experience than the nearby Swamp Rabbit Trail, with less traffic, and more trees. I've ridden trails from Maine to Georgia and this is a good one.

Afternoon 4 miles

September, 2017 by philsucksgolf

A quick warm-up to the trail head by the ball field from the Residence Inn. 2 miles out and back. Few road crossings and intersections are inside a residential area. Very little traffic. Great scenery, flat and smooth surface. A nice surprise as I was going to try a hit downtown Charleston for a run. Glad the hotel manager made the recommendation. Enjoy this trail!!
