Denton Branch Rail Trail

Great find!

March, 2018 by choirmom_tl

Having moved to North Dallas from South Dallas, I have been hard pressed to find some nice trails. This trail does not disappoint. There are frequent crossings that can be tricky. What is nice is that there are areas one can veer off for more challenging biking up hills. There are beautiful neighborhoods throughout. I will look forward to taking this trail again.
4 stars because at times the trail feels a little unsafe and remote from a female perspective.

Lanana Creek Trail

My favorite trail

March, 2018 by kbugsimmons

Anytime I’m in nac, I like to go walking/running this trail. You can go all the way from the Hoya soccer fields to almost Kroger on university (one of the sfa buildings you can see Kroger from).

Historic Battlefield Trail

Not very scenic

February, 2018 by themnmoores

We just returned from a trip the South Padre Island this February. One windy day we ventured into Brownsville to ride this trail as it was supposed to be warmer and less windy in Brownsville that day. Warmer yes, less windy no. We started in town and rode towards the battle field into a 20-30 MPH wind. Not much for wind protection on this trail. After being a bit convoluted getting through the first couple of miles the trail basically runs through the housing areas of Brownsville on a greenway corridor. There is some water, but overall not a very scenic ride. Glad we went in to ride it but we would not take the couple of hour drive time from South Padre Island in the future. BTW, I am not rating the trail based on the wind that day as those things happen and are not the trails fault.

Brays Bayou Greenway Trail

Great Trail Through Southside of Houston

February, 2018 by slistc

New to Houston and have not found many trails for road bikers. This one is great, and will be even more so once all upgrades are completed. (Feb 25, 2018) - while a few spots take some navigating due to trail construction and/or need to pick up the trail on the other side, the path is wide and well maintained. Today, runoff had left a few wet/muddy spots - which left a skunk mark on my back, but that just proves I had fun. I hope future plans include signage to let trail users know what street, sights, and amenities are near each underpass.

White Rock Lake Park Loop Trail

This is a great family park

February, 2018 by sssggg

Well worth going to. Take the entire family here. You can bike, walk, lay on the grass under the trees. They have it all. Maybe the east side can be a little rough in small spots but it has many great areas to sit have a picnic etc. They also have paddle boats and sail boats to rent in the summer time. Must see!

Cotton Belt Trail

Gaylord TX and Great Wolf access

February, 2018 by relambjr

I only ran a brief 1.5 miles on this Trail from the Ball Street (northern) end point, but I did want to mention that there is a relatively new (2-3 year old) sidewalk from up Route 26 going past Gaylord Resort, Great Wolf Lodge and the Embassy Suite/Bass Pro that makes this trail very accessible and great for a long run or ride from any of those properties. The sidewalk is very wide and goes along 114 into downtown Grapevine (Main Street is very cool), and then along Ira E Wood Ave along a commercial strip and then transitions into the Cotton Belt trail.
At the Ball Street entrance there are several businesses where you can probably park and access the trail with little difficulty (chiropractor office, etc).
I didn't have a chance to go too far on the actual Cotton Belt so I can't vouch for the scenery. I stopped when I was about to run under an interstate.

Katy Trail (Dallas)

Great Path

January, 2018 by andrewbrown24

Connects the Park Cities to downtown. Use it to commute to work in the city. For out of towners, leisurely ride with many places to stop for food / drinks. Is usually very crowded after work so slow down and enjoy he ride.

Cottonwood Trail

January, 2018 by johnedmeyer56

I rode the cottonwood trail Friday January 4, 2018. There was a lot of trash on and along the trail. There are spectacular parts of this trail going under highway bridges which are truly unique. Some disadvantaged folks loitering along trail from time to time, not wanting to bother anyone. Ignore them and they'll ignore you.
It was a privelidge to ride this trail, being from Kansas City I'll say Dallas trails are tremendous, and should be appreciated by all.

Caddo Trail

Nice stroll in betwixt greenspace and grand homes

December, 2017 by sjoslin_tl

Easy paved walk with small playground at one end. Filtered light and greenspace amidst tawny homes, and along a stream. A nice escape when short in time.

Watters Branch Trail

East side between McDermott & Bethany now connected!

December, 2017 by ethanja10

I did a test ride last night and can confirm! Awaiting 121 connection with McKinney to continue the north into McKinney. The is an underpass connection on the east side of Exchange (Rowlett Creek Trail) but you'll have to cut across some neighborhoods. I recommend Ridgeview Dr or Comanche Dr.

Taychas Trail

trail is extended

November, 2017 by jonnyquest.king

Trail now runs down independence and behind Preston trail church, and loops back around to the Lawler Park neighborhood
