Missouri Headwaters State Park Trails Description

The Missouri Headwaters State Park offers 5 miles of unpaved trails to explore its picturesque landscapes by foot, horseback, or mountain bike. The park spans more than 500 acres and, within its borders, there are also opportunities to fish, boat, and camp.

History lovers will also appreciate its National Historic Landmark, where the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin rivers merge to form the great Missouri River. The Lewis and Clark expedition traversed this land in the early 1800s. Travelers today will enjoy its scenic plains and meadows, views of distant mountains, and rich wildlife.

At the southern end of the park, a connection can be made to the paved Headwaters Trail System, which leads into the community of Three Forks.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking and restrooms are available in Missouri Headwaters State Park (1585 Trident Road, Three Forks).
