Watters Branch Trail Description

The Watters Branch Trail travels through upscale neighborhoods and wooded riparian areas. The main segment It begins at Ridgewood Drive near a parcel of undeveloped parkland, and travels south more than 4 miles to Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm. The sprawling 52-acre mixed-use complex offers a variety of shopping and dining options. Another segment exists north of the Sam Rayburn Tollway. It runs from Henneman Way north through the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the trail's southern end at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, a shopping and dining complex between Bethany Drive and US 75.

Watters Branch Trail Reviews

I did a test ride last night and can confirm! Awaiting 121 connection with McKinney to continue the north into McKinney. The is an underpass connection on the east side of Exchange (Rowlett Creek Trail) but you'll have to cut across some neighborhoods. I recommend Ridgeview Dr or Comanche Dr.

I've run this trail since 2003.Builders are required by the City of Allen to complete the portions of trail at builder cost within their house/business office development. The trail now has expanded to about 7 miles. Most is tree shaded to protect you during hot summer weather. It's a great trail for running/walking.Bikers are few on this trail. You'll see birds, coyote, bobcat, and an occasional copperhead on the trail.

This is a very good trail for biking and running, but the map is not accurate. Between McDermott and Bethany, you will want to stay on the West side of the creek. The East side trail does not connect all the way. If you are going North from the Watters Creek shopping area, cross over at Bethany and stay on the West side trail. Enjoy!

This would be a great trail if only they would connect the missing pieces. About a mile from the start heading north the trail suddenly stops and you have to scout your own way to the road and then behind an apartment complex to find the other end. After that the trail is great all the way to the north end. I think we'll stick to the other great area trails until they complete this.

We were able to locate the trail after seeing locals nearby who were also out and about. This trail is very wide, completely concrete, shaded (excellent for a hot day) and nicely busy. It was somewhat confusing for us as it went thru neighborhoods and was at time hard to make sure we will still on track. There are also lots of feeding trails leading to it and again was somewhat confusing to make sure we were still on track. Fortunately it was well travelled and everyone was friendly enough to help when we asked questions. I would seek out this trail again when we are in the area.

We parked in the Watters shopping center and found the trail head. But it was blocked off on both ends right away. We bypassed one blocked area of about 20 yards and got back on the trail. But it hit a dead end after less than one mile heading north.
